Ice Breakers and Warmups

MARCH Goals

Let's get our kids used to the idea that they will survive standing in front of others! We will do this by using a simple speaking prompt and having the kids "put on" a different voice, action, or personality.

Posture.

This part is important. Teach kids to pause and breathe before speaking gives them the oxygen they need to think.

Pausing after doing the practice is important too so they don't run off the "stage". This builds confidence.

How to begin.

  • Stand with hands at sides and head down.
  • Take a deep breath or two.
  • Look up and say the piece.
  • When done, put head back down and place hands at side and pause for 2 full seconds.

How to do these prompts.

  1. Read the prompt a few times to get the words down. (Use the prompt I give you or create your own)
  2. Record kids simply saying/reading the prompt.
  3. Give the kids the daily challenge.
  4. Record them doing the daily practice again.
  5. Review both videos together and give positive praise and feedback.
